This painting class is designed to introduce non-experienced individuals to beginning painting while addressing the intermediate and advanced artists needs to explore concepts and critiques of critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity in a complete college-like open studio fine art curriculum. All mediums (pastel, watercolor, acrylic and oil) are accepted into this painting program. Bring whatever art you're working on, or photos or digital images of any subject you would like to paint, and get guidance from local, multi-award winning artist, Michael Gault. Michael has a BFA and a Master's Degree in studio art, has taught at Visual Art College Courses in multiple states as well as art classes and workshops, has exhibited his work nationally and internationally and has collectors throughout the world. Classes are geared to allow the student to work on whatever they want to paint, with options to paint from life or with suggestions from Michael to expand the participants abilities. This program begins with a 6-week session and renews monthly at the end of each session. Classes are sponsored by Reserve Our Gallery and are 1:00 to 3:00 each Wednesday, September 25, 2024 running through October 30th for $270. Students supply their own painting materials: paints, mediums, pencils or vine charcoal, canvas or panels and equipment (brushes, cleaning supplies, etc.) and can bring their own portable easels. Some studio easels and table easels are available.

This workshop is for post-beginning artists that are possibly employed full-time and working on their own on their art. The class will allow artists to bring in current things that they are working on for support and guidance. The workshop will concentrate on identifying specific strengths of an artist and their current work, while recognizing weaknesses with discussion and guidance for modifications to improve each piece of art. Conversations will include instruction for processes and practices to develop the artistic eye while advancing creativity and visual communication proficiencies. Artists will focus on developing the skill of self-critique, and during one-on-one evaluations each artist will be encouraged to describe & self-assess their own work, while asking for specific support with problem areas. Following the self-appraisal phase, Michael will provide positive reinforcement on the strengths visually presented to ensure the artist knows and understands the accomplishments of their efforts. He will also provide feedback and instruction on technique & processes as well as basic artistic elements, principals and philosophical theories of art as well as the communicative abilities and responsibilities of fine art. The student will then have time to initiate changes to the art to make corrections or changes. This workshop consists of two-3 hour sessions that will occur on Saturday afternoons, two weeks apart to allow participating artists time to generate additional works for review. This will promote and accommodate involvement with multiple pieces of ongoing work while maximizing experience and the time to grasp concepts. Workshop scheduled for Saturday, 9/28 & Saturday 10/12 from 12:30 – 3:30 each day. Continuing on a monthly basis will be discussed with participants during this session.
Bring 2 - 4 current art works in progress (paintings, pastels, drawings, digital work) along with equipment and materials needed to work on these items during workshop. To register for this workshop, go to: https://forms.gle/NCXydzRoTzuf9cKy7 or call 719-401-2301 .

Join us for an evening of art and wine to understand the intimate association between the two. Both wine and art can be explained by the many characteristics they share, such as their ability to stimulate our senses, imagination and our memories. Wine like art is only understood through the utilization of our senses. Wine and art are each appreciated for their individual character and the charm they present. And like wine, art can be interesting and thought provoking even if it is not particularly to your liking.
Art appreciation refers to the understanding and enjoyment of visual art and involves understanding the historical and cultural context and how art is a form of expression and communication. We’ll explore and analyze various forms of art and recognize the subjective based on persona tastes, while examining elements of design and mastery. The key to appreciating any kind of art is to approach it with curiosity an open mind and a bit of curiosity. An ability to look closely while pondering the context and identifying any symbolism will allow the viewer to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art that you encounter.
This purpose of this course is to introduce individuals to the concept of art being a 2-part process. Part one is the creative process & part 2 is observing. We will discuss the dynamics of art as an expression and discover what the elements and principles of art are while recognizing the historical and cultural context in which the art was created.
Participants will discover the categories of art and why they are important. We will come to understand why we like or dislike art and we will recognize why that is important and how it empowers us throughout our life.in Woodland Park)
